The United Nations Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1996.

The UN Trust Fund works with NGO partners all over the world, investing in effective and innovative programmes aimed at preventing and responding to all forms of violence against women and girls.

The UN Trust Fund conducts an annual global call for proposals. The process for selection is open, competitive and merit based.

Selected grantees receive funding and expert technical support from the UN Trust Fund and UN Women for effective and sustainable initiatives to prevent, address, reduce and ultimately eliminate violence against women.

The Fund currently supports 78 programs in 71 countries. Grantees are working to:

  • Prevent violence against women and girls by supporting groups at risk and engaging with strategically important groups such as youth, men and boys, traditional and faith-based leaders.
  • Expand access to services for women and girl survivors of violence and improve capacity of those providing services, including legal assistance, psychosocial counseling and health care.
  • Strengthen implementation of laws, policies and action plans on violence against women and girls, including by helping institutions become more effective, transparent and accountable.
  • Assist survivors of conflict-related sexual violence.
  • Address the links between violence against women and HIV/AIDS.

The Generalists developed this site as part of its partnership with the UN Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women. The Generalists are supporting the UNTF to raise awareness and funding for programs around the world to end violence against women and girls and engagement with and outreach to the fashion industry.
